For 500 to 600 homeowners living in the vicinity of the Oakand Airport, one of our tasks is to help each prepare for and be comfortable with the necessry disruption of construction during the acoustic retrofit of their homes.

PROJECT DETAILS

To many homeowners living in Alameda in the shadow of the Oakland Airport, we represent the Port of Oakland as more than 600 condominium and single-family home dwellers move through a six year acoustic retrofit program. Architectural services consist of replacement of windows and doors, new fireplace dampers and screens, additional outside connections to improve air quality, weatherstripping and glazing at skylights for homes in neighborhoods adjacent to the Oakland Airport.

We have assisted each condominium association to prepare for and be comfortable with the necessary disruption of construction, including design surveys, detailed measurement of their home, the presence of contractors, laborers, and construction disorder, and the mobilization required to obtain approvals and sign-offs. The first phase involving 100 homes has come to a successful close, and the second phase is now bidding. Necessary approvals included permits from the City of Alameda and approval by the FAA.
